LifeTrace

How it works

Connect once. It captures everything else.

LifeTrace runs on your machine in the background. Connect your accounts and data sources, and it quietly builds a complete, growing picture of who you are — then lets you interact with your own memories through AI.

01

Connect your sources

Link Gmail and Calendar, connect iMessage, drop in your Google Timeline export, point at your Apple Photos library and your documents folder. Each source syncs automatically in the background — even catching up when your laptop wakes from sleep.

02

Your corpus assembles

Every email, message, calendar event, photo location, and document becomes part of your corpus. GPS coordinates resolve to neighborhood names. LifeTrace scores your corpus across six dimensions of completeness and tells you where the gaps are.

03

See your life back

A daily journal entry. Weekly and monthly digests. A map showing the traces of every place you've been. A history grid going back as far as your data does. A chat that actually knows you — citing specific memories, never fabricating.

FAQ

Common questions

Does my data leave my machine?

No. LifeTrace runs entirely on your hardware. Your data is stored locally. If you choose a cloud LLM, only chat prompts are sent — and that's your choice.

What about other people's data in my messages?

LifeTrace identifies third-party content at ingestion. You control what happens to it — redact, exclude, or keep. The persona focuses on your voice.

How does the AI know what I'd say?

It retrieves your actual memories and cites them. When the corpus lacks evidence, it says "I don't know" instead of guessing. Every response is grounded in real data.

What AI models can I use?

Anything. Run Ollama locally for free, connect OpenAI or Anthropic with an API key, use your Codex subscription, or point at any private endpoint.

Is it open source?

Yes — the engine, connectors, dashboard, and mobile app. Every line of code that touches your data is inspectable.
